“Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.” 1 Cor 6:19-20

The main purpose of God’s Spirit is to glorify God. (John 16:13–14)

The Spirit comes upon humans to reveal God. When the Holy Spirit comes upon you, you will be my witnesses in Judea, Samaria, and the whole world.

In Acts of the Apostles 1:8, Jesus says, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
The emphasis is clear. The Spirit comes upon believers for empowerment to witness to Christ. That is the central, not one of many options.

The Spirit of Christ will empower you to be fulfilled and become like Christ in character; The Spirit also equips differently according to God’s assignment. In Exodus 31, He fills men with skill and craftsmanship, and in 1 Corinthians 12, He distributes gifts for the building up of the body. So, whether in practical work, leadership, or service, it is the same Spirit working through different expressions for God’s glory. He enables you to do craft, engineering, administer government, innovate, and supernaturally influence the atmosphere and people by taking charge over principality and power.

How does it happen? When you glorify God in your spirit and body, the activities of heavenly host on earth increase. Because God inhabits the praise of His people.

This means that the Spirit is not given to center life around us, but to centre everything around God. The power, the gifts, the influence, the ability, all of it flows from that one purpose, that God would be seen, known, and honoured through a human life.

So the real measure is not how much we can do, but how clearly God is revealed in us. Whether in public or in private, in skill or in service, in strength or in weakness, the question remains the same: is my life pointing back to him?

As you glorify God in your spirit and in your body, you create room for His presence to dwell and be expressed. The question I often ask myself is, “Am I seeking the Spirit for what he can do through me, or am I first yielding so that God is truly glorified in me? Because the more he is truly glorified, the more everything else finds its right place.
