Heaven is a society of perfect love. There will be no jealousy, rivalry, suspicion or selfishness there. Therefore, every act of Christian love on earth is preparation for the life believers will enjoy forever.
The church should be a foretaste of heaven because the spirit of heaven is love.
The questions to ask:
Do I delight in the spiritual prosperity of other believers?
Do I pray for the good of those who irritate me?
Am I more concerned with winning arguments than winning hearts?
Do I forgive as readily as I have been forgiven?
Am I helping others reach heaven, or merely living for myself?
Christian maturity was not measured primarily by knowledge, giftedness or activity. It was measured by love. A person may know much doctrine, attend many meetings and perform many duties, but if love is absent, the heart of Christianity is absent. The closer we draw to God, the more we will love those whom God loves.
