“In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes.” Judges 21:25
God formed us. Sin deformed us. School informed us. Jesus reformed us. The Holy Spirit transformed us so we can seek formation. But “The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but he who heeds counsel is wise.” Prov 12:15
“Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.” Eph 5:1-2
The guiding principles of our lives are the rules and regulations that determine how we live. Our lives are not our own; they were given to us by God. At the end of life, our bodies will return to dust, and our spirits will return to God. The common misconception that “it’s my life” is false; in truth, life is loaned to us by God and will be collected by Him when the time comes.
We must use our lives in the way they ought to be used so that we can return them with dignity, pride, and joy.
