Every good thing you do for God matters. No act of kindness, no moment of selfless service, no effort to live righteously goes unnoticed by God. In fact, He is always watching, always faithful, and always ready to reward those who do good in His name. When we choose to walk in faith, to love others, and to serve with a heart that honours God, we position ourselves for divine favour and blessings that far exceed anything we could imagine.

The Bible reminds us of the certainty of God’s rewards. In Galatians 6:9, we are told, “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” This verse calls us to keep going, even when we don’t see immediate results, knowing that in God’s perfect timing, our perseverance will pay off. The rewards for doing good aren’t just for eternity—they can manifest in our lives right now, in powerful and unexpected ways.

God is faithful to reward those who diligently seek Him and live according to His will. As Hebrews 6:10 reminds us, “For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.” Nothing is forgotten by God. He sees every effort, every sacrifice, and every good deed. And just as humans reward loyalty and kindness, how much more will God, who is perfectly just, reward those who faithfully follow His commands?

Throughout the Bible, we see countless examples of people whose good works led to divine favour and miraculous outcomes. Take Dorcas, for example, in Acts 9:36-42. She was known for her acts of charity and kindness, especially toward the widows in her community. When she passed away, those she had helped mourned deeply, showing Peter the garments she had made for them. Their intercession led to a miracle—Dorcas was raised from the dead. This story serves as a powerful reminder that our good works speak for us, even in moments of crisis, and can position us for divine intervention.

Consider also the story of King Hezekiah in Isaiah 38:1-5. When Hezekiah was told by the prophet Isaiah that he was about to die, he didn’t simply accept the news. Instead, he turned to God in prayer, reminding Him of his faithfulness and good deeds: “Remember now, O Lord, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight.” God responded to Hezekiah’s prayer by adding 15 more years to his life. This shows us that our good works matter, not just in terms of future rewards, but in the most crucial moments of our lives. God can use our faithfulness to change our circumstances.

The Shunammite woman’s kindness to Elisha in 2 Kings 4:8-17 also illustrates the power of good works. She showed hospitality to the prophet, even going so far as to build him a room in her home. In response to her generosity, Elisha prophesied that she would have a son, a gift she had longed for but had given up hope of receiving. Later, when the child died, Elisha prayed and brought him back to life. This story teaches us that good works can unlock miraculous blessings—not just in the form of material rewards, but in divine restoration and intervention.

Another powerful example is Cornelius in Acts 10:1-4. Cornelius was a devout man who prayed regularly and gave generously to those in need. His good deeds were so significant that they came up as a memorial before God. As a result, God sent an angel to instruct Cornelius to send for Peter, leading to his household becoming the first Gentiles to receive the Holy Spirit. Cornelius’ faithfulness didn’t just change his life—it changed the entire course of history for the early Church.

These stories show us that God notices every act of kindness, every moment of service, and every prayer made in faith. Your good deeds are not in vain. Whether you’re helping a neighbour, serving in your community, or living with integrity in the quiet moments of your day, God sees it all. And He promises that those who do good will be rewarded—not just in heaven, but in tangible ways here and now.

So, let this be a word of encouragement to you today: keep doing good, keep loving, keep serving. Even when it feels like no one notices, God sees you. He is faithful to reward your labour of love, and the harvest is coming. Your good works are laying up treasures for you, not only in eternity but also in the here and now. Just like the heroes of faith we read about in Scripture—like Dorcas, Hezekiah, the Shunammite woman, and Cornelius—your faithfulness and kindness can bring about divine favour, miraculous blessings, and life-changing breakthroughs.

Keep pressing on, knowing that your efforts will never be in vain. God’s reward is certain, and His timing is perfect. What you sow in faith, you will reap in abundance.
