Restoration

“So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the crawling locust, the consuming locust, and the chewing locust, My great army which I sent among you.” Joel 2:25

Good morning, friend. Sometimes life feels like a field stripped bare by locusts. Years of effort, dreams, and joy seem to vanish — swallowed by hardship, disappointment, sin, or circumstances beyond our control. Our text reminds us that God sees these losses, and He promises restoration. Nothing is hidden from Him, and no loss is too great for His redeeming power.

The locusts in Joel’s story were relentless. They left the land barren, destroying crops, hope, and livelihood. Spiritually, emotionally, and even physically, we can face seasons that feel just as devastating. Perhaps it was a relationship that ended, a job opportunity that slipped away, health struggles, financial setbacks, or a period of spiritual dryness. These are the “locust years” — times that feel wasted, empty, and beyond repair.

But here is the truth: God’s restoration goes beyond simply giving back what was lost. He transforms what was broken into something more than before. What seemed wasted can bear eternal significance, and what once felt hopeless can become a platform for blessing others. Even the pain, the delays, and the seasons of waiting are not wasted in His hands.

God sees every loss, even when we feel unnoticed or abandoned. Restoration often begins when we bring our brokenness before Him honestly, surrendering control and trusting His timing. What He restores rarely looks like a return to the old; He brings abundance, insight, and purpose that far exceed what we imagined. And the years we thought were gone can be redeemed for growth, wisdom, and fruitfulness beyond our understanding.

Take a moment to bring your own “locust years” before God. Speak them aloud to Him and allow His presence to breathe hope into the emptiness. Trust that He can transform what feels lost into a testimony of His faithfulness, and that your story, even the broken parts, can glorify Him and bless others.

Father, I bring before you the years I feel have been lost — the dreams delayed, the moments wasted, the struggles endured. Restore what was eaten, renew my hope, and transform my past into a testimony of your faithfulness. Let the years you reclaim not only fill the gaps but overflow with purpose, joy, and fruitfulness. Help me trust your timing and your ways, and to walk forward in faith, knowing that nothing is beyond your power to redeem. Amen.
