Power of His Might

“Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might” Ephesians 6:10

Elijah was no ordinary man. He had just called down fire from heaven, confronted an entire nation, and defeated hundreds of false prophets on Mount Carmel. If anyone seemed strong, fearless, and full of faith—it was Elijah. But in the very next chapter, we see a different man. After a threat from Queen Jezebel, Elijah runs for his life. Exhausted, discouraged, and afraid, he collapses under a juniper tree and prays that he might die (1 Kings 19:4).

This was not weakness in character—it was weariness of soul. Elijah had come to the end of his own strength. He had done everything right and still ended up tired, alone, and overwhelmed.

Do you notice? God didn’t scold him. God didn’t say, “Where is your faith?” God didn’t say, “You should be stronger than this.” Instead, God sent an angel with food, water, and rest. “Arise and eat, for the journey is too great for thee” 1 Kings 19:7. That one meal, provided in the presence of God, gave Elijah strength to walk forty days and nights to Mount Horeb. There, he would encounter God not in fire or earthquake, but in a still, small voice.

Even the strongest among us—youths in the prime of life—are not exempt from weariness. Isaiah 40:30 says: “Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall.” Energy fails. Zeal runs out. Determination alone cannot carry us through life’s heaviest storms. Proverbs 24:10 reminds us that if we faint in the day of adversity, it reveals the poverty of our strength. But Isaiah 40 shows us the remedy: waiting on the Lord.

God offers strength that isn’t natural but supernatural. In our posture of trust, surrender, and expectation in God’s presence, strength comes. Isaiah 40:29 says: “He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.”

This is a God-initiated exchange. Where human energy ends, divine power begins. Where might fails, grace abounds. Jeremiah 31:25, says, “I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint.” The scripture says God gives power to the faint and renews the strength of those who wait on Him—those who trust, hope, and rest in His presence. This divine strength comes through God’s word, by the help of the Holy Spirit, and by grace that meets us right where we are. It is not earned by striving, but received in surrender. In His presence, we are revived; in our weakness, His power is perfected.

Declaration
The Lord is my rest and restoration. He sees my weariness and does not ignore it. Today, I receive His refreshment. My soul will not faint, for He satisfies me with strength from above. I am not running on empty—I am being replenished by the One who never runs dry. In His presence, I find renewal. My spirit is lifted, my heart is steadied, and my strength is restored. I am refreshed, in Jesus’ name.
