“Love the LORD, all his faithful people! The LORD preserves those who are true to him, but the proud he pays back in full.” Psalm 31:23
We have just been elected as area leaders for the cell groups, and the area coordinator shared the scripture above to encourage us. Soon, everyone was laughing. The speaker was surprised and couldn’t figure out what was funny. The funny aspect was that we read the same passage a week before in our “search the scripture,” and a particular hardworking brother, who was burnt out at the time, made a comment that he wouldn’t mind if God repaid him in full for his work. His interpretation was that God just promised safety to diligent workers, but if you are a proud worker, God will pay you in full. Of course, this is not what the passage means.
The passage says that God honours and supports those who remain steadfast in their loyalty and obedience to Him. I remembered, we were taught that taking entrusted responsibilities seriously is a key principle not only in a biblical context but also in various aspects of life. It fosters trust, demonstrates reliability, and contributes to personal and collective progress. Consistent dedication to fulfilling responsibilities is often a cornerstone for growth, success, and positive impact in both individual and communal settings.
“And if you have not been trustworthy with someone else’s property, who will give you property of your own?” Luke 16:12
This verse highlights the principle of faithfulness in handling responsibilities. If someone proves trustworthy in managing the possessions or responsibilities of others, it suggests they may be entrusted with greater things, including their own property or responsibilities.
