Where you go, I will go, and where you stay, I will stay. Your people will be my people, and your God my God.” — Ruth 1:16

The love we share with one another brings delight to our heavenly Father. The Bible says that God feels loved when we show love to His children (1 John 4:11-12). In Matthew 25:40, God says that even our smallest acts of kindness toward our brothers and sisters in Christ are done unto Him. When we commit to being there for each other, we reflect God and actively sharing Jesus with the world around us.

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:34-35

Ruth’s commitment to her mother-in-law, Naomi, after both lost their husbands, is a powerful example of loyal, selfless love. Ruth’s words, in our text, reflect her dedication. By staying with Naomi and caring for her, Ruth brings hope, and through her actions, God’s blessings flow, ultimately leading to the lineage of Jesus Himself. When we are affectionately committed to one another, we fulfil His counsel. Today, let the love of Christ flow through your love for the brethren and overflow to the world around us.

Ruth’s choice to stay, despite the challenges, shows a love that is selfless and steadfast. God delights in the love we share—a love that goes beyond convenience or personal gain. When we extend kindness and compassion to one another, even in small ways, we reflect His love and presence to those around us, aligning the world with God’s plan.

I can sincerely say same about Oasis as Paul remarked about the Thessalonians: “Now about your love for one another we do not need to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love each other. And in fact, you do love all of God’s family throughout Macedonia. Yet we urge you, brothers and sisters, to do so more and more.”
