But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
1 Corinthians 15:55-57

One thing I don’t miss about living in the tropics is the mosquitoes. I can hardly cope with the incessant buzzing, but my real concern is the sting. It’s not the size or the noise that’s frightening, but the pain. A mosquito bite can even be deadly. Sin is like that sting. Death is the sting of sin, and it’s not only frightening because it marks the end of life, but because of what lies beyond it. The law, like a magnifying glass, reveals the seriousness of our sin.

Here’s the good news: Jesus took the sting for us. On the cross, He bore the full weight of our sin, met the demands of the law perfectly, and paid the penalty we owed. Death tried to sting Him, but in doing so, it lost its power.

Imagine stepping onto a battlefield where the war is already won. The enemy is defeated, their stronghold shattered, and the victory banner is flying high. That is the Christian life. We don’t fight for victory—we fight from victory. Jesus Christ has already won the war. On the cross, He crushed the power of sin, fulfilled the law, and broke the curse of death. His resurrection was not just a moment of triumph—it was a total, eternal victory. Now, we stand in the light of that finished work.

Though the war is won, the battles remain. Sin, like scattered rebels, still rises in our hearts. Habits, temptations, and fears linger, hoping we’ll forget the victory that’s already ours. We fight, not to earn God’s favour, but to live out the freedom He has already secured. Romans 6:14 says, “For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.” Though sin may try to reign again, it has no rightful power. We resist not as defeated people, but as conquerors. We silence lies with truth and reject temptation not in fear, but in faith—because we know the end of the story.

Every time we say “no” to sin and “yes” to Jesus, we reclaim what belongs to us. We’re not earning salvation—we’re living it out. Through prayer, obedience, worship, and perseverance, we move forward. Even when we fall, we rise again—not in shame, but in grace. Christ’s victory lifts us every time. Each battle we overcome brings rewards: deeper peace, greater joy, spiritual maturity, and eternal treasure. Jesus promised, “To the one who conquers I will give the right to sit with me on my throne” Revelation 3:21. Victory isn’t just about overcoming sin—it’s about living in your kingdom inheritance now and forever.

You may still face struggles, but you’re not fighting alone—and you’re not fighting to win salvation. Christ has already won. You’re simply cleaning up the remnants, collecting the spoils, and declaring His lordship in every area of your life.

So, stand tall. Lift your head. You are more than a conqueror through Him who loves you (Romans 8:37). You fight from victory—now live like it.
