“In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Phil 1:4-6

In our text this morning, Apostle Paul is expressing his deep gratitude and joy for the Philippian believers and their partnership in spreading the gospel. Paul’s joy here stems from the fact that the Philippians have been partners with him in the work of the gospel since the very beginning of their faith journey. Their commitment and dedication to the gospel cause him to rejoice continually in his prayers for them. However, he expressed something very special about God. Paul expresses his confidence in God’s ongoing work in the lives of the Philippian believers. He is certain that the same God who initiated a good work in them will continue to carry it on to completion until the day when Christ Jesus returns. He says. that God is an initiator and finisher.

My dear friend, the Word of God declares with unwavering certainty: ‘Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.’ (Phil 1:6)

This morning, let this truth resonate deep within your soul: the God who initiated His good work in you is faithful and reliable. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Heb 13:8). His promises are sure, His plans are perfect, and His love for you is unfailing. Even when circumstances seem uncertain and challenges arise, remember that God is in control. He holds you in the palm of His hand (Isa 41:10) and will never leave nor forsake you (Deut 31:6). He is your ever-present help in times of trouble (Psa 46:1), guiding you, strengthening you, and equipping you for every good work (2 Tim 3:17).

Therefore, stand firm in faith, knowing that the One who began a good work in you will bring it to completion. Trust in His timing, rely on His strength, and rest in His unfailing love. As you journey through life, keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Heb 12:2), knowing that He is faithful to fulfil every promise He has spoken over your life.

May this assurance fill you with hope, courage, and unshakeable confidence, knowing that God’s faithfulness endures forever (Psa 119:90) and His love for you knows no bounds. In Him, you are more than conquerors (Rom 8:37), and through Him, you can do all things (Phil 4:13). So, press on with steadfast faith, knowing that the best is yet to come, and God will bring His good work in you to glorious completion. Amen.
