But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.” 2 Chro 15:7

The work you are doing in His name is not unnoticed. God sees it all—every prayer you’ve uttered, every sacrifice made, every act of kindness done in secret—and He promises that your work will be rewarded. This is not just a hope; it is a certainty because God never forgets the labour of His faithful servants.

At times, it may feel like your efforts are in vain, as Isaiah thought in Isa 49:4:I have laboured in vain; I have spent my strength for nothing at all.” But even when we feel discouraged, we must remember that the outcome is in God’s hands, not ours. Isaiah quickly recognised this, saying, Yet what is due me is in the Lord’s hand, and my reward is with my God.” You may not always see immediate results, but rest assured, God sees your heart and your faithfulness, and He will never owe you your reward.

God has not asked us to seek Him without purpose or reward. Everything He has spoken, He has spoken clearly and truthfully, with the assurance that those who seek Him will find Him and that their efforts will bear fruit.. He said to Isreal, “I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth; I did not say to the seed of Jacob, ‘Seek Me in vain’; I, the Lord, speak the truth; I declare what is right.” Isa 45:19. His promises are sure, and His Word does not return empty. Every effort to pursue righteousness, to advance His Kingdom, or to live faithfully in a challenging world is valuable in His eyes. He is the God who rewards those who diligently seek Him, as we see in Hebrews 11:6: Anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.”

Nehemiah faced great opposition while rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem. His enemies mocked and threatened him, trying to stop his work. Yet he remained steadfast, saying, “The God of heaven will give us success. We his servants will start rebuilding…” (Neh 2:20). He pressed on, trusting in the Lord’s help, and in the end, the walls were rebuilt, and God was glorified. Like Nehemiah, you may be facing opposition—whether it’s discouragement, fatigue, or obstacles beyond your control—but if you stay faithful, God will bring your efforts to completion, for He is the one who gives success.

In 1 Corinthians 15:58, the apostle Paul reinforces this truth: Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labour in the Lord is not in vain.” We must remain unwavering, fully devoted to God’s work, because it is never wasted. Even when no one else sees your effort or acknowledges your sacrifice, God sees. He is the one who keeps the account, and He is the one who rewards.

God is not man, that He should forget or delay your reward. As Hebrews 6:10 says, God is not unjust; He will not forget your work and the love you have shown Him. Men may overlook you, but God never will. He is the faithful rewarder of those who serve Him with love and perseverance. God cannot owe you, for He is no man—His justice is perfect, and His rewards are certain.

Therefore, beloved, hold fast to this truth. Whatever role God has called you to play—whether in church, in your family, in your community, or in your workplace—do not grow weary. Be strong and do not give up, because your work will be rewarded. Like Nehemiah, like Isaiah, like all who have gone before us in faith, continue with endurance. God is preparing a reward far greater than any earthly recognition. His reward is eternal, and His promise to you is sure. Amen.
