Should a Christian always feel peace before making a decision?
You’d think so, right? But the truth is… not always.
Sometimes, obedience feels uncomfortable, even painful—but that doesn’t mean it’s not God.
Look at Jesus: In Gethsemane, He was overwhelmed with sorrow. He didn’t feel peace—but He still obeyed (Matthew 26:38-39). That obedience changed history.
And Jonah? He ran from God and still had the “peace” to fall asleep during a storm (Jonah 1:5). That shows us: not every calm feeling is from God.
🔎 So what’s going on?
Here’s the key: God’s peace is real, but it’s not always immediate. Sometimes, it comes after you say yes—not before. If you wait to feel totally at ease before obeying, you might miss God’s moment.
⚔️ And here’s another layer to this:
There’s a constant tension between the flesh and the spirit (Galatians 5:17).
The flesh looks for comfort, ease, and quick rewards—it resists anything that feels like sacrifice. But the spirit is drawn to God’s will, even when it’s costly.
💡 So don’t be surprised if obedience feels like a battle at first. That doesn’t mean it’s wrong. It means you’re growing, stretching, and following the Spirit—not the flesh.
✅ Ask yourself:
– Is it biblical?
– Is it godly counsel?
– Is my discomfort because it’s wrong—or just because it’s hard?
🕊️ “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts…” (Colossians 3:15)
💬 What do you think? Have you ever obeyed God even when it didn’t feel peaceful—and saw the reward afterward?
