Anxiety is something we all face, especially as young adults. The pressure to figure out life, meet expectations, and deal with uncertainty can feel overwhelming. Whether it’s fear of failure, worrying about the future, or struggling with selif-worth, anxiety has a way of creeping into our minds and holding us back. But God never intended for us to live in fear. He calls us to live by faith, trusting that He is in control even when life feels chaotic.

Jesus spoke directly about worry because He knew it would be a battle for us. In Matthew 6:25-34, He reminds us not to be anxious about our lives—what we will eat, what we will wear, or what tomorrow holds—because God already knows what we need. Instead of stressing over things beyond our control, He tells us to seek Him first, and everything else will fall into place. Anxiety grows when we focus on what we don’t know, but faith thrives when we focus on who God is.

One of the most powerful ways to overcome fear is through prayer. Philippians 4:6-7 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Instead of letting worry take over, we can turn to God in prayer and experience a peace that doesn’t even make sense—a peace that reassures us that He’s got us, no matter what.

Another way to fight fear is by filling our minds with God’s truth. Fear thrives on lies—the lie that we’re not good enough, that we’re alone, that things will never get better. But God’s Word speaks truth into every fear. When anxiety whispers, “You’re not strong enough,” God says, “My grace is sufficient for you” (2 Corinthians 12:9). When fear says, “You’re alone,” God promises, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5). The more we hold onto His Word, the less room there is for fear to take root in our hearts.

Faith isn’t about having all the answers or knowing exactly what the future holds. It’s about trusting the One who does. Isaiah 41:10 reminds us, “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” God doesn’t promise that life will always be easy, but He does promise to walk with us through every challenge. Sometimes, faith means taking a step forward even when we feel afraid—applying for that job, starting that project, saying yes to that opportunity—even when we’re unsure of the outcome.

Overcoming fear isn’t a one-time thing; it’s a daily decision. Every day, we get to choose: will we let fear hold us back, or will we trust that God is bigger than whatever we’re facing? Faith isn’t the absence of fear—it’s choosing to believe that God’s plan is greater than our worries. No matter what you’re going through, you are not alone. God is with you, leading you, strengthening you, and working things out for your good. Fear may come knocking, but it doesn’t have to control your life. Trust God, step out in faith, and watch how He moves.
