“Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil.“ Proverbs 3:7
Wisdom is typically associated with sound judgement, experience, and a deep understanding of life. Every society tends to idolise leaders who have achieved a worthwhile impact in life; however, true wisdom stems from the fear and reverence of God.
Abram, later known as Abraham, is considered successful in the Bible due to his obedience to God’s commands. In Genesis 12, God instructs Abram to leave his country and go to a land that God will show him. Abram obediently follows God’s direction, demonstrating faith and trust. As a result, God promises to bless Abram and make him a great nation. The success of Abraham is rooted in his unwavering obedience to God’s guidance, showcasing the biblical principle that true success comes from following God’s will.
True success stems from following God’s principles and guidance.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6
Pause before you do it! What is God’s will for me in this? Will this honour Him and does it align with His Word? True success unfolds as we align our lives with God’s principles and submit to His guidance. Let’s not rely solely on our understanding but, instead, trust in the Lord wholeheartedly.
Our heavenly Father, we acknowledge that Your ways are higher than our ways, and Your wisdom surpasses our understanding. Lord, illuminate our path and direct our steps. May Your Holy Spirit be our guide, leading us in the way of righteousness and truth. Grant us discernment to recognise Your voice amidst the noise of the world. Help us to shun evil and walk in obedience to Your commands. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
