“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.” Joh 15:16
You are not a random thread; you are intentionally chosen, ordained, and appointed by the Creator of the universe. Meditate on this text today, where Jesus declares that you are not merely a bystander but a carefully selected part of His grand design. Before the foundations of the world, God chose you with purpose and precision, not by chance or coincidence. Your life is intricately woven into the masterpiece of His purpose, and there are specific assignments God has anointed and equipped you for. You are not placed by accident; your relevance will come to light. As God said to Jeremiah, “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you; before you were born, I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” Jer 1:5
Recognise that your existence is part of a divine plan. Your days are not accidental; they are ordained steps towards fulfilling God’s purpose for your life. In verse 15, Christ affirms that you aren’t ordinary accessories; you are part of God’s master plan. You are not merely a servant following orders without understanding; you are significant in His mission to redeem mankind.
Yes, challenges will come, but success is certain. Just like a kernel of wheat falling to the ground produces many seeds, you have a mandate to produce results that will last. (John 12:24) This is for the purpose of bringing many sons and daughters to the kingdom of God. What a great privilege! Feel the weight of your appointment. In the Kingdom of God, you are not a mere spectator; rather, you have been appointed to bear fruit that lasts. This is a divine assignment that goes beyond the ordinary. Your life has a purpose, a significance that echoes in eternity.
To fully embrace your calling, surrender and submit to the Vine—Jesus Christ. Just as a branch draws its life from the vine, surrender yourself to Him. Die to self, allowing His life to flow through you. In this surrender, you find the strength to bear lasting fruit.
Consider how your life can bear lasting fruit today as you surrender to God’s purpose and calling.
Lord, Thank you for choosing, ordaining, and appointing me for a purpose. I surrender myself to you, the true Vine, asking for the strength to bear fruit that lasts.
May your life be a testimony to His glory. In Jesus’ name, amen.
