God has already spoken. “In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son” Hebrews 1:1–2.
The Bible is the complete record of that speech, written down so it remains unchanged and reliable.

God still speaks. “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me” John 10:27.
He does this today by bringing understanding and clarity to what He has already revealed. The same Spirit who inspired the scripture helps us see how it applies to our present circumstances.

So when it feels as if God is silent, it is not that He has stopped speaking. It usually means we have stepped away from what He has already said. We may have disobeyed a clear command and our conscience is clouded. Or we have allowed the noise of the world (worries, entertainment, busyness) to drown out the still, small voice. When we return to the word, we find that His voice becomes clear again.

The solution is not to chase a new mystical experience, but to return to the regular discipline of communion with the Father. Ask yourself, why have you stopped listening? Begin with reading and prayer. If you need guidance in a particular area of life, pick up the Bible, read, and meditate on passages that speak to that situation; you will hear Him.
