And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”

Paul’s prayer for the Ephesians is a prayer for us—to experience the full depth of Christ’s love. This love isn’t just something to understand with our minds; it’s something to encounter in our hearts. As Paul says, it “surpasses knowledge”. God’s love that changes us, something we feel deeply, not merely know intellectually. God’s love is not a fleeting emotion, but our anchor. It’s a rock-solid foundation that holds us steady through life’s storms. His love is vast, yes, but also unfathomably deep, reaching beyond our human comprehension. To truly grasp it, we need the Holy Spirit to reveal it to us. And when we begin to experience it—everything changes.
The moment we truly encounter God’s love, we begin to fall in love with Him. This love redefines our identity. We are no longer defined by our failures, our achievements, or anything the world says about us. We are beloved children of God (1 John 3:1), and this identity is unshakeable. It gives us the boldness to live confidently, knowing that we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us (Rom 8:37). His love secures us, emboldens us, and empowers us to face anything. God’s love changes how we view everything—even suffering. In Rom 8:35-39, Paul declares that nothing can separate us from the love of God. Not hardship, not persecution, not trials—nothing. In the middle of life’s struggles, His love is greater than our pain, greater than our doubts. His love is enough to carry us through. As David said, “Your love is better than life” (Psalm 63:3). And truly, it is. God’s love is eternal.
When we begin to experience God’s love on a deep level, our priorities radically shift. Like Paul, we start to count everything as loss for the sake of Christ (Phil 3:8). We stop living for ourselves and begin living for Him. We become love-driven, not self-centred. Worship changes from a Sunday activity to an everyday lifestyle. His love overflows in everything we do, and it enables us to love others (1 John 4:19). His love enables us to see others through His eyes and to love as He has loved us (John 13:34-35). The more we experience God’s love, the more we reflect it in our relationships and our actions.
Take a moment today to reflect on how God’s love has transformed your life. How has it anchored you through challenges? How has it changed your perspective on trials? Let the reality of His love fill your heart today, and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal it more deeply. As you go about your day, ask God to show you new ways He loves you. Let that revelation shape your actions, your perspective, and your relationships. Whatever comes your way, remember: His love is more than enough to carry you through. Let His love guide how you see others, and let it inspire you to serve and worship, flowing from His abundant love (Col 3:12-14).
Father, thank you for your unfathomable love. Open my heart to experience it fully. Root me deeply in your love, so I find my identity in you. May my trials become opportunities to trust you, and my life a living sacrifice of worship. Empower me to live radically for you, loving others with the same sacrificial love you’ve shown me.
