If you’re happy and you know it, say “Amen!”

Another joyful song that takes me back to years, where we celebrated the joy of the Lord through cheerful tunes and laughter.

Smiling, laughter, and bright eyes are universal signs of happiness. As Christians, we believe that joy is a gift from God, and it often shines through our faces. Open and relaxed postures, dancing, jumping, or clapping can express our joy—not just for ourselves but as a way to glorify Him. Have you ever noticed how people lean in towards each other during uplifting conversations or share playful gestures that reflect the love and joy we have through Christ?

Some express their joy with words—exclamations like “Wow!” or “Yay!” often arise when we witness God’s blessings in our lives. And let’s not forget about physical touch; hugs, high-fives, and handshakes are beautiful ways we connect with others and share the joy that comes from our faith.

Interestingly, not everyone feels the need to demonstrate their joy outwardly. Some find peace in simply being present, quietly appreciating the moment without needing to show it off. I remember sitting in church, surrounded by fellow believers, feeling the warmth of community and the comfort of God’s presence. It’s those moments of calm that can be just as joyful as the loud celebrations.

When we think of joy, we often picture celebrations like parties, giving gifts, or communal activities such as singing hymns or playing games. These gatherings create wonderful memories and strengthen our bonds as brothers and sisters in Christ. However, joy doesn’t always have to be grand or loud. Sometimes, the most profound expressions of joy come through small acts of kindness—sharing the good news, or simply being there for someone in need.

As Christians, the greatest good news we can share is the message of Christ’s love and salvation. It’s our mission to share this message with others, spreading the love of Christ through our words and actions. When we share the good news of Jesus, we invite others to experience that same joy in their lives.

In Luke 15:7, Jesus says, “I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.”
