Today, I remember singing a simple yet powerful song in kindergarten:

I have joy, joy, joy, joy in my heart!

This catchy melody has stayed with me through the years, reminding me of a profound truth about joy that I’ve come to embrace: joy is found in the presence of God! True joy isn’t dependent on our circumstances; it’s a precious gift that flows from our intimate relationship with Him.

David said, “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Psa 16:11

Joy is not just an emotion but a characteristic that the Holy Spirit produces in believers. It grows from living a Spirit-filled life. It is a fruit of the Holy Spirit!

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness.” Gal 5:22

Salvation through Christ is the ultimate source of joy. Knowing we are saved by God’s grace brings a deep, lasting joy that transcends temporary trials. We are saved to the uttermost!

“Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation. With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.” Isa 12:2-3

The Bible teaches that joy can be experienced even in hardship because trials strengthen our faith and character. The Bible says,

“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.” James 1:2-3

God’s kind of joy provides spiritual strength, enabling us to endure difficult times. Joy rooted in God can sustain us through any challenge.

Neh 8:10 says, “Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

If you find yourself feeling low in joy, I urge you to actively seek God’s presence! Whatever it takes to enter His presence—be it heartfelt prayer, uplifting worship, or quiet moments in nature—do it!

Jer 15:16 says, “Your words were found, and I ate them, and your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart.”

Delighting in God’s Word brings joy because it unveils His character, promises, and unwavering love. The Bible nurtures our joy, reminding us of His faithfulness. Take time to meditate on His promises; read them aloud and let His truth echo in your heart!

Joy is found in serving others because when we serve, we are doing it unto the Lord (Matt 25:35). Jesus taught that we experience true happiness when we selflessly give to and help others. Acts 20:35 says, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Consider volunteering in your community or reaching out to a friend in need—these acts of kindness will not only bring joy to others but will also fill your own heart with joy.

Brethren, you have joy, joy, joy, joy in your heart!

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Rom 15:13

if you ‘re happy
