The most important commandment, according to Jesus (Mark 12:29–30), and one that both the old and new covenants portray as necessary to enjoy God’s sustained favor, is love.

To love God is to enjoy God’s sustained favor.”

It isn’t legalistic but a genuine expectation that we respond to the love of God. He first loved us. (1 John 4:19)

For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose hearts are loyal to Him.

“I love those who love me; and those who seek me early and diligently will find me.” Proverbs 8:17

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
