Thoughts shape our lives; we are what we think. The mind is a battleground with high stakes. Use God’s weapons to destroy false arguments and take every thought captive (2 Corinthians 10:4-5). Actively monitor, challenge, and filter thoughts to obey Christ. Toxic thoughts must be rejected forcefully, like marching them out with a spear to the back.

Like pulling weeds, negative thoughts must be removed from the root. Simply “cutting down” bad thoughts isn’t enough—they will regrow unless uprooted. Replace lies with God’s truth (scripture). Jesus modelled this by quoting scripture to counter Satan’s lies during temptation. The heart must not only be cleaned but also filled—with scripture, truth, and godly thoughts.

God made your brain and can retrain it. Just because you have a thought doesn’t mean you must entertain it. God constantly thinks loving, positive thoughts toward you (Psalm 139). A heart emptied of lies must be filled with truth to avoid becoming “vacant” and spiritually vulnerable (Matthew 12:43–45).
